This is really great stuff Laura. So thoughtfully written and ending up 'somewhere in the middle' just like we did at DC Network when thinking through what to put in the Telling and Talking and Family and Friends booklets. At DCN we have always acknowledged the tensions and ambiguity between treating donor conception as entirely normal and a bit different. Whilst the majority population of heterosexual couples still conceive children with gametes from each partner I think DC has to be acknowledged as a bit different but with 'different' being part of a spectrum of what is normal. Genetic connections are both hugely important and not important at all. We are all holding this tension and as parents must be ready to acknowledge our children's feelings about where they sit on the line between the two (this being something that can change over the years).

Thanks so much for your Donor Conception Journal Club. I much enjoy reading it.
